Mark was stringing at three badminton events during Feb and March 2008 including 2 ‘Super Series’ events

Mark joined a team of five stringers for the Yonex sponsored European Team Championships in Almere, Holland from February 11th – 17th.The event also doubled up as the Thomas and Uber Cup Euro qualifying tournament.

30 mens teams and 27 ladies teams played in an initial round robin format before the knock out stages – the top three countries progressing to the Thomas/Uber Cup finals in Jakarta, Indonesia in May.

It was a busy time for the team – over 400 rackets in the first 3 days, but the number of rackets dropped dramatically once the group stages were over. All Yonex players receive free restrings with players using other manufacturers paying 10 Euros a time. Tightest tension was about 35lbs in BG80!

At the beginning of March, Mark travelled to Birmingham for the Yonex All England Championships – this time a team of 7 stringers + admin was assembled for what was a high workload of rackets. Yonex launched the new top of the range Arc Saber 10 racket at the event, so we strung lots of new frames for players from all over the world.

The following week, Mark flew to Basel to string at the Swiss Open Super Series – this time for Wilson. Not too busy this time as most of the players had their rackets freshly restrung the week before at Birmingham! The poor Malaysian team had their luggage go missing from the Birmingham to Basel flight - they had rackets but no shoes or clothes! The luggage turned up just hours before they had to play!
